Arani is a town and a municipality in Tiruvanamalai district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The name comes from the word araneeyam which means a place surrounded by a forest. In olden days Arani was called Aranyam. Aar means Athi tree; such trees once covered the region. In the north of Arani, there was a river, the Kamandala Naga river. These trees and river looked like an ornament; hence the name Arani.
The town is well known for Rice and Silk in Tamil Nadu, Majority of the population in and around the town are depending on Agricultural and Weaving related occupation. The revenues of the town are the major contribution to the revenues of the district. There are more than 250 Rice mills with in the town limit and stands second in the state to produce rice next to Thanjavur region.
Arani is the 2nd largest town in the district after Thiruvannamalai. It is located about 38 kilometres (24 mi) from Vellore and 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Thiruvannamalai. The city is well connected through various well formed roads, the state highways SH-4 (Arcot – Arani – Gingee – Villupuram Road), SH-132 (Vellore – Arani Road),Arani-Tiruvannamali Road are the major roads connecting Arani. The nearest railway station is “Arani Road” located at Kalambur, which is 8 km from the town.
SETC has recently introduced a new route from Coimbatore to Arani. It is a rare route connecting a Tier II city with a town apart from District HQ or major city. The bus was captured around 4.35 p.m. at Salem CBS towards Coimbatore. It would help majorly the pax commuting to Tiruvannamalai (plus nearby towns) from Coimbatore to have a comfortable journey. At present quite a few 3×2 seater express services byt TNSTC is seving between Coimbatore and TVMalai. A pair of bus from Coimbatore SETC Branch has been deployed.
Route # 68C which was plying from Singanallur Bus Stand to Thudialur was stopped by Coimbatore region’s Ondipudur-1 Branch due to bus shortage as well as poor collection.TN 38 N 1980-A Leyland SLF was plying for this route earlier. Continue reading →

A whopping 11270 special buses would be operated according to the State Department of Transportation for the Pongal festival on 11, 12 and 13th January 2017.
On the eve of Pongal festival special buses would ply from Chennai to various destinations across the state. 29 ticket counters opened for this purpose at Chennai Koyambedu. Special buses operated continuously for 3 days festival.
Temporary Bus Terminus:
For the convenience of passengers and to avoid congestion, temporary terminus at below points similar in fashion to Diwali would be arranged.
Andhra bound buses would start from Anna Nagar West Terminus.
ECR bound buses would commence from Gandhi Nagar Bus Terminus, Adyar.
Thanjavur, Kumbakonam buses would start from Tambaram Sanatorium BS.
Vellore, Hosur and Dharmapuri bound buses would ply from Poonamallee.
All other destination like Trichy, Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, Nellai, Nagercoil, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Neyveli, Panruti and Kallakurichi bound buses would depart from CMBT (Koyambedu) as usual.
TNSTC-Tirupur Introduced 1 to 4 Non Stop bus service in Udumalai-Tirupur Route upon public Demand. 4 trips are available from both ends. Udumalai Depot operating this service with Same Ordinary fare. no extra charges. Hope, This service get good response soon. Travelled this service from Udumalai to Palladam recently. Upcoming TNSTC CBE depot under construction at Sulur.
This new Branch will come to reality very soon and it would be second depot to serve Sulur area, while presently Karumathampatti mostly serving Sulur area. The new branch would be more helpful in reducing the huge load of Ondipudhur 1 Branch. Sulur bound town services from Ondipudhur 1 Branch and Karumathampatti would be transferred to the under construction Sulur Branch once it commences. Surrounding villages would get good connectivity once this branch gets inaugurated.
New Year is always so magnificent time of our life, it’s when we celebrate the new upcoming year and say good bye to the previous year 2016. Let us all welcome the coming New Year 2017 with open hearts and remember all the moments in our lives that were memorable from the previous year.

TNSTC Ooty Region’s Coonoor branch is known for the well maintained buses by their crew, especially their Kaveri Thendral duo (TN 33 N 3144 and TN 38 N 1987) had never failed to gain attraction from the public. These buses are maintained by their own crew, 8 of them, and their passion and dedication towards their work is noteworthy.
The patronage of these buses is overwhelming, which can be seen obvious in Trichy Central bus stand. “Seats to Ooty starts to get filled up before the bus enters Trichy CBS itself, and with respect to our personal interest and increasing demand, we have deployed the bus TN 38 N 1987 as an additional Ooty – Trichy service, under the name “Mudhal Vaarisu” and that bus still performs well in this route, despite being a 7-year old bus”, says Mr. Vijayakumar, driver of the Hills Queen TN 33 N 3144.

TN 38 N 2455 Introduced in 2010 for Coimbatore-Palani Route from Pollachi-2 Depot build by Coimbatore region’s own CEC Pollachi body building unit. upto February-2016 it was running in the same route from Pollachi-2 Depot. After that, it got transferred to Valparai Depot and running in Valparai-Tirupur as a spare. to be the bad time, it was met with Major Accident near Negamam in Pollachi-Palladam Road. TNSTC-CBE Erode region recently downgraded 15+ Tata buses to city services in Erode, Bhavani and Gobi areas. Some Good condition buses from Erode region in TN 33 N 18xx are transferred to Tirupur and Coimbatore region’s for replacement of very old buses exists in the above mentioned regions. Then, after long time find out all the three buses which was rounding in Coimbatore city. Karthigai is essentially a festival of lamps. The lighted lamp is considered an auspicious symbol. It is believed to ward off evil forces and usher in prosperity and joy. Karthigai Deepam is the most significant festival that is celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Arunachaleswarar temple, Tiruvannamalai. In this year Karthikai Deepam falls on 12th December,2016 .This Karthigai Deepam is celebrated as a ten day festival and it is widely known as Karthigai Brahmotsavam.
Karthigai Deepam festival starts at around four o clock in the early hours and the Bharani Deepam is lit at the temple. In the evening the Mahadeepam is lit on the top of the hill at around six o clock. This is a very important ceremony during the Karthigai Deepam festival at Tiruvannamalai. Arunachaleswarar is said to be visually represented in the form of agni on the hill top. There is a very mammoth gathering on this day at the Arunachaleswarar temple to witness this glorious and sacred event.
TNSTC operate special buses from various parts of Tamil Nadu to help cater the huge rush for the festival at Tiruvannamalai. Usually Chennai bound special buses are operated from Chennai road, Kanchipuram and Vellore bound buses north of the BS on Vellore road, Kallakurichi, Attur and Thanipadi bound buses near Thamarai Kulam on Thanipadi road near TNSTC TVM Branch 1 and West bound and Bangalore bound buses near Govt Arts College on Chengam road.
TNSTC-CBE Erode region received Tata Buses in 2012-13 in a good number of shares. Mostly this TML buses are allotted to Erode-Coimbatore and Erode-Tirupur routes. apart from Erode-Mettur, Bhavani-Coimbatore and Sathy-Erode also. Recently erode region getting good number of new buses in AL platform and replaced most of TML buses in TN 33 N 28xx. we all are expecting that replaced TML buses are going to transferred to Coimbatore.
